For June Oven owners
Keep your oven working after the cloud goes away.
When June's servers shut down, your oven can no longer be paired, controlled, or show its camera. Project July puts a small replacement server on the oven itself, so it keeps working on your home network. No subscription, and nothing sent over the internet.

How it works
The oven becomes its own cloud
Your oven and phone expect to talk to June's servers. Project July answers in the same way, from inside your home. You set it up once.

A small server runs on the oven
We install one small program on the oven. It answers the same requests the June cloud used to, so the oven and phone carry on as before.

The oven points at itself
The oven's network settings are changed so its “cloud” address leads back to the oven, not to June's servers.

The phone app is adjusted once
A companion app connects to the oven's address on your network and trusts your home's own security certificate.

The live camera stays local
A camera program takes still pictures and streams them to your phone and Home Assistant. No video leaves your home.

Pairing stays at home
The oven and phone keep, or re-create, the secure pairing they already had. You can pair as many new phones and tablets as you like, and pairing happens entirely on your home network. Only your phones can control your oven.

This is an early project. Here is exactly what has been tested, and what is still being built.

Before you begin
- A micro-USB cable that carries data (not a charge-only cable)
- A laptop
- A USB stick to start the laptop from
- A screwdriver
- Your home Wi-Fi name and password
- About one hour
What setup looks like
- Lay the oven on its side.
- Take out 7 screws.
- Plug in the micro-USB cable.
- Start your laptop from the USB stick and click Install.

Security & privacy
Your kitchen stays in your home
No cloud
The oven and your phone talk only to each other on your home network. Nothing is sent to June, to us, or to anyone else.
The camera never leaves home
Camera pictures are streamed only on your local network, and only while you're cooking unless you open the manual view.
Your keys, your oven
The oven and phone use the same secure pairing as before, so only your phones can control your oven. Pairing a new device happens entirely at home. Per-home certificates are on the way.
Open source
The code and build scripts will be published with the first release. You, or someone you trust, will be able to check exactly what runs on the oven.
Where things stand
Project July is an early community project. It isn't made or supported by June or Weber. Setup is a one-time job: seven screws, one micro-USB cable and one click. Per-home certificates are still being finished. Downloads and source code will follow once testing is complete. We'll keep the status list above up to date.

Frequently asked
Do I need to buy a server or leave a computer on?
No. The server runs on the oven itself. You only need a laptop once, during setup.
Is there a subscription?
No. There's nothing to pay and nothing to renew.
Does it need the internet?
No. Everything runs on your home network. Your phone needs to be on your home Wi-Fi to control the oven.
Can I add another phone or tablet?
Yes, as many as you like. Pairing a new device happens entirely on your home network, with no account and no cloud.
Will I lose my recipes?
Cook programs and controls you use from the phone keep working locally. Anything that only ever lived on June's servers can't be brought back by this project.
What happens after a factory reset?
That depends on how you set it up. With the standard setup, a factory reset removes Project July and the oven goes back to how it came. With the reset-proof setup, the oven keeps its local control after a reset. You might need to pair your phone again.
Can I undo it?
Yes. With the standard setup, a factory reset removes everything Project July added and puts the oven back the way it came. If you'd rather keep local control no matter what, choose the reset-proof setup. Then a factory reset won't take your local control away.
Does it work with Home Assistant?
Yes. The oven shows up with its status and temperature, and the live camera is available as a standard MJPEG stream.
Is this made by June?
No. Project July is an independent community project by June owners. It isn't affiliated with or endorsed by June or Weber.

Built by owners, for owners
We own June ovens too. The hardware still works well, and it seemed wrong for good ovens to lose their features because a server was switched off.
